Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso was born on 21st October 1956 at Kwankwaso town in Madobi Local Government of Kano state. Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, a water Engineer, Administrator, and politician is married with 8 children.

Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has been the recipient of various national and global awards for his contributions toward the development and improvement of the standard of life of the people. Awards such as that given by the Muslims Pilgrim aid Association of Nigeria and Madarasatul Nasratul Aulad Islamiyya recognise his contributions to the spread Islam through the building of mosques and Islamic schools. In northern Nigeria the vasity contributed to the development of womanhood as he was recognized by the national council of women societies in Nigeria. He was conferred the title “Best Performing State Governor of the Year 2000’’ by the institute of corporate executives of Nigeria. Other awards include those for excellence on education and governance given by organizations such as NUJI B.U.K, The Institute of Corporate Executives of Nigeria.
