Alhaji (DR) Mukhtar Ramalan Yero was born on the 1st of May, 1968 in Zaria, Kaduna State

He started his education when he enrolled into LEA Primary School, Kaura in Zaria from 1974 to 1980. Immediately he completed his primary school, Ikara and later Government Day Secondary School, Zaria thus completing his Post-Primary education in 1986 and obtained his West Africa School Certificate.

Between 1986 and 2003, he attended Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where he obtained a Diploma in Banking, B: SC in Accounting and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA). Between 2003 and 2004, his quest for professionalism in his chosen career took him to the College of Accountancy, Jos where he obtained a membership of Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN)

His Excellency’s working career started when as a Youth Corper, 1991 – 1992, he served as an Assistant Accountant with the Ogun State Bulk Purchasing Corporation in Ibara, Abeokuta

Between 1992 – 1993, he returned to his alma mater, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where he was employed as a Higher Executive Officer (Accounts). Between 1993 – 1997, he moved to Nigerian Universal Bank Limited, Kaduna as a Supervisor (Accounts) in the head Office Accounts Department and later Supervisor, Officer Grade 111 at the Bank’s Sabon Tasha Branch

Destiny moved His Excellency, in 1997 to Nalado Nigeria Limited where he served variously as Chief Accountant, Head of Administration, Head of Administration and Finance and Director, Finance and Administration.

His Excellency belongs to various professional groups such as Fellow, Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), Fellow, Institute of Corporate Executives of Nigeria; Fellow, Institute of Cost and Management Accountants (ICMA), Fellow, Institute of Chartered Economists of Nigeria; Fellow, National Association of Technologist in Engineering, Member, National Institute of Management (NIM) and Honorary Doctor of Philosophy (Public Administration), Pacific Western

In July 2007, he was appointed the Honorable Commissioner of Finance under the administration of His Excellency, Arc. Mohammed Namadi Sambo (now Vice President, Federal Republic of Nigeria)

In May 2010, he became Deputy Governor to the late Governor Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa

When His Excellency late Governor Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa won the PDP’S gubernatorial ticket as its flag bearer in the 2011 general elections, he picked His Excellency, Dr. Mukhtar Ramalan Yero as running mate and on that ticket they won the general election

On the 16th of December 2012, Dr. Mukhtar Ramalan Yero was sworn in as the Executive Governor of Kaduna State.
