Newly elected members of Osun State House of Assembly yesterday promised to set aside party differences and work towards lifting the state.

The lawmakers, who disclosed this shortly after receiving their Certificates of Return, CoRs, from the Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, of Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for the state, Dr. Ademola Ogunlana, said the general wellbeing of Osun people remains the aim of the two parties that produced the members.

All Progressives Congress, APC, garnered 24 out of the 26 seats in the Assembly, while the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, won two seats.

Speaking on behalf of the 24 APC members, Hon. Adegboye Akintunde, assured of rancor-free relationship among members and commended INEC for given the country credible polls.

A PDP lawmaker, Hon Dejo Samson Makinde, stated the readiness of the opposition members to support efforts to develop the state.

Presenting the certificates to members-elect, Dr. Ogunmola said now that the election is over, the next thing for the lawmakerselect was service to the people, describing them as members of the same family, and urged them to shun partisanship and work for the development of the state.

He said: “We are all witnesses to the event that happened during the election, some are a palatable, while some are not. We should all do the appraisal of our involvement to be able to move forward.

“We are all members of the same family and we must ensure that we do our best to ensure good governance in the state. What is next now is service to the people and to achieve this; we must remove partisanship and work collectively for the development of this state.

“Your people have reposed their confidence in you and you must work hard not to betray that confidence.”

There was however a melodrama shortly after the event was concluded when some suspected political thugs attacked a memberelect, from Ife East state constituency, Hon Akinwole Omilaji.

The lawmaker, who was rescued from the venue by some of his colleagues, while speaking on phone with newsmen fingered a former commissioner from Ile Ife as the mastermind of the attack.
